Chelsea: Betting On A Manager (Being Sacked) Saga
Posted by admin on November 3rd,2017View
Past Managers: The Abramovich Era
Since the start of the Abramovich era, Chelsea has gone through 12 managers. Antonio Conte is the 13th manager and current manager of the club. The list of managers also includes Claudio Ranieri, Jose Mourinho (2), Avram Grant, Luiz Felipe Scolari, Guus Hiddink (2), Carlo Ancelotti, André Villas-Boas, Roberto Di Matteo, Rafael Benitez and two other interim managers.
This Season
At the beginning of the season, there was a lot of speculation surrounding the immediate future of Antonio Conte. Chelsea’s past record of the number of managers we have been through since 2003 speaks for itself.
There was also speculation that Conte was not happy in England and wanted to go back to Italy. Conte stated in an interview that he was happy at Chelsea and is ready to face the task at hand.
Antonio Conte In Numbers
Statistically speaking, Antonio Conte has the highest win-percentage, more than any other Chelsea manager that has managed Chelsea for more than one match. Conte has managed Chelsea for 51 games already and has won 39 games, drawn 4 and lost 8. That’s a win percentage of 77%.
The next best win-percent for a Chelsea manager is shared between Jose Mourinho (won 124 out of 185 games) and Avram Grant (won 36 out of 54 games), both at 67%.
Odds On The Chelsea Manager Getting Sacked
At the start of the season, Conte was 8/1 to be sacked from Chelsea, which is pretty high considering he just won the title three months earlier. After the first match loss to Burnley, Those odds were slashed to 4/1 which meant he was one of the next favorites for the axe.
After a few decent performances, Chelsea sits in 4th spot in the Premier League and Conte’s odds of being sacked is at 11/1. Safe for now. If Conte does leave, Carlo Ancelotti is tipped to return to Chelsea with odds at 15/8.
