The Top Scorers In The Premier League 2018: Golden Boot
Posted by admin on November 3rd,2017View
Every year, English football crowns the leading goal scorer of the season with the golden boot award. Winners of the golden boot are also given £1000 for every goal scored in a season. This money goes to a charity of their choice and not to the player.
Alan Shearer (3), Michael Owen (2), Didier Drogba (2), Harry Kane (2), Luis Suarez (1) are among several others to win the award since 1992.
Fact: Thierry Henry has won the golden boot four times, more than any other player.
The Golden Boot Race 2017-18
The race for the Premier League golden boot is on. Harry Kane has won the award for the last two consecutive seasons and is in line to do so again. The betting odds have favored Kane in spite of him having another goalless August.
The top scorers after 9 games in the Premier League are:
- Harry Kane – 8
- Sergio Aguero – 7
- Romelu Lukaku – 7
- Alvaro Morata – 6
- Gabriel Jesus – 6
- Raheem Sterling – 6
The best odds you can get on the golden boot for the same players are:
- Harry Kane – 11/8
- Sergio Aguero – 5/1
- Romelu Lukaku – 9/2
- Alvaro Morata – 14/1
- Gabriel Jesus – 17/2
- Raheem Sterling – 80
Harry Kane seems almost destined to win it with the form he’s in. The odds are almost 1/1 in his favor. He’s even third favorite to be the top scorer in the Champions League after Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
The second favorite to win the award will be Romelu Lukaku. He was a runner-up for the award last season. Bookies favor him winning the award ahead of Sergio Aguero because of the latter’s injury problems and match fitness.
An outside and realistic bet to make some good money is to put your money on Alvaro Morata who has scored 6 goals in 8 games. He has been in really good form and expects the Spaniard to finish in the top three in the race for the golden boot.
